Vicki Litherland, K-5 Teacher for PE/Health and coach at Bureau Valley Grade School was named as a finalist for the Illinois Ag in the Classroom Teacher of the Year Award. Ms. Litherland brings ag in to the classroom every chance she gets by using references to agriculture and food pyramid as students learn how they are connected to healthy choices and lifestyles.

 She is also a former Summer Ag Institute attendee in 2010 and 2011. Vicki received a plaque recognizing her as the IATC Teacher of the Year finalist, which was presented by Sara Hildebrand (right), Bureau County Ag Literacy Coordinator.
She says it's easy for her to bring agriculture into her classroom since she is the physical education and health teacher. She uses many of the lessons to get the students out of their seats to learn. We thank Ms. Litherland for her dedication to teaching and bringing lessons about agriculture in to her classroom.
